Our licensed guide will begin the tour by visiting Casa de Pilatos , a magnificent palace acquired by the Enriquez Ribera lineage in the late 15th century. Nowadays the Seville residence of the current 20th Duchess of Medinaceli. The name of this palace is deeply rooted into an old town legend.

A short walk to Plaza de la Encarnación will take you to the MOMA award winning contemporary Metropol Parasol , a complex designed by the German architect Jürgen Mayer. The sevillanos have nicknamed it Las Setas, the Mushrooms.

And finally, your licensed guide will take you to Las Dueñas Palace , residence to the Alba House, the most important aristocratic family in Spanish history. Favourite property of the famous, recently deceased Duchess, Doña Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart, this palace offers the visitor beautiful gardens and patios, a hidden gem in the centre of the city.

CASA DE PILATOS

This mansion has preserved the incredible artistic value of its sui generis combination of 15th century Renaissance style and the unique-to-Spain Mudéjar style. It also houses a magnificent collection of archaeological pieces gathered by some of the family’s ancestors, who enjoyed important positions in Italy such as heads of the Viceroyalty of Naples and Sicily and of the Spanish Embassy in Rome.

At present, Casa de Pilatos is a property of the Ducado de Medinaceli Foundation.

Impressively tiled and plastered walls and astonishing wooden filigree-like ceilings are proud witnesses to a period of wealth and grandeur in Andalusian art.

Opening times:

Daily: 9.00-18.00 (November to March)

9.00-19.00 (April to December)

Mondays: 9.00-14.00

From 15.00 only free access to limited number of visitors. No access for guided tours.

METROPOL PARASOL

Since 2011, a gigantic architectural creation made up of 3500 micro-laminated Finnforest Kerto wooden pieces takes up the historical Encarnación Square. It has successfully brought together three different levels: - The Antiquarium: at the basement, where significant Roman and Medieval remains have been preserved - The street level area with a traditional food market, restaurants and bars - The upper level with a panoramic terrace.

An unexpected avant-garde surprise on our way between two historical sites.

LAS DUEÑAS PALACE

A 15th century Gothic and palace with 16th century Renaissance additions. Intellectuals, members of the royalty, politicians , bullfighters and flamenco artists have stayed within its walls throughout history. The famous poet Antonio Machado was born here in 1875.

A guided stroll through a variety of rooms, gardens and patios provides the visitor with an interesting cultural insight and a taste of the Spanish aristocracy’s lifestyle.
